ReBath of Albany to Display Walk-in Shower at 'The Gazette's Baby Boomer Expo, Celebrating Life After 50 Plus'

ReBath of Albany will be offering special discounts to potential customers, who visit their exhibit at ‘The Gazette's Baby Boomer Expo, Celebrating Life after 50 plus,’ which will be held Oct. 7 at the Saratoga Springs City Center. The Expo begins at noon and runs through 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Clifton Park, NY (PRWEB) October 04, 2012

ReBath's seated shower bases are
contoured for comfort.
ReBath of Albany will be one of the area businesses featured at the ‘The Gazette's Baby Boomer Expo, Celebrating Life after 50 plus,’ at the Saratoga Springs City Center on Oct. 7. ReBath of Albany staff will be giving away special coupons to potential customers, who sign up for a free bathroom remodeling estimate. The Expo begins at noon and runs through 6 p.m. Admission is free.

Throughout his many years of remodeling bathrooms and homes, ReBath of Albany owner Frank Rafalik learned that people over the age of 50 often begin to worry about not being able to safely get in and out of their tub. It is because of his customers’ fears that he wants to help people feel confident and secure in their own homes.

“We know that people start to worry about falling in the bathroom once they reach that 50 plus mark,” Rafalik said. “That is why we bring our walk-in shower display to the 50 plus expos. Walk-in showers are much safer and easier to step into and they help homeowners feel more confident about bathing on their own.”

ReBath of Albany will have a walk-in shower on display for customers to see and touch. The display is made from the same DuraBath SSP acrylic that they use in customers’ bathrooms so people at the Expo can see what their product really looks like. Though there will be only one of their beautiful colors on display, ReBath of Albany offers so many colors and styles, the possibilities are endless.

Many people may worry that having their old tub and walls removed to have a walk-in shower installed is a huge project that they don’t want to get involved in. For homeowners with this concern, ReBath of Albany is the perfect solution.

The professional installers at ReBath of Albany are able to remove an old tub and wall system and install a brand new walk-in shower in just one day. Since the installers specialize in bathroom remodeling, they know how to get the job done on budget and on time.

Knowledgeable ReBath of Albany associates will be managing the booth at the Expo and will be able to answer all customer questions. Any customers who want to set up their free in-home estimate can give their information to any ReBath of Albany staff member and receive a coupon for money off their contracted price.

Though being able to see a ReBath of Albany bathroom in person is a great reason to attend the Expo, there are other exciting booths and events to see.
The first 500 people who attend the expo will receive coupons and gifts compliments of the New York lottery. Other exciting events include: Tribute artist performances by Donny Elvis and All Paul Show and a price raffle for a Norwegian cruise for two and a 51” plasma TV.

Oakland PSL Certificate Experts at Evenflow Plumbing Announce Winter Specials on Oakland Sewer Testing and Sewer Lateral Video Inspections

Oakland PSL Certificate plumbers at Evenflow Plumbing are making it easy this winter for people in escrow to get their Oakland sewer certificate fast. They are offering specials on Oakland sewer testing and the PSL Certificate.

Oakland, California (PRWEB) September 20, 2012

Oakland Sewer Repair
Oakland PSL Certificates are now required for any home that is being sold in Oakland with the exception of condominiums. The PSL certificate is required because of the Oakland Private Sewer Lateral Ordinance which went into effect earlier this year. The goal of the new sewer ordinance is to limit the amount of rain water, ground water and storm runoff that enters the sewage treatment facility. “The new Oakland sewer lateral ordinance is a step in the right direction toward protecting our environment and controlling the amount of sewage that needs to be treated at local facilities,” says Gary Dimodana, Owner of Evenflow Plumbing in Oakland. Cracked or broken sewer lines allow water that is not waste to enter the sewer system which leads to higher than necessary sewage treatment costs because the non-waste water is treated like sewage. The ordinance dictates that Oakland sewer repair must be performed on broken sewer lines to reduce the amount of water entering the treatment plant.

Oakland sewer testing is the way that EBMUD determines whether or not a PSL Certificate of Compliance is issued for a particular property. A sewer test consists of using air or water under pressure to determine whether or not the sewer line is broken or has leaks. If the sewer lines holds air or water then the PSL Certificate is issued. If the private sewer lateral fails the test then Oakland sewer repair work is required. Trenchless sewer replacement is one of the sewer repair methods that guarantees a PSL Certificate will be issued.

Oakland trenchless sewer replacement consists of creating access points at each end of the sewer line. A cable is fed through from one access point to the other. Once this is complete the cable is used to literally pull a new sewer pipe right through the old one, causing the old sewer pipe to burst around the new one. “We can do most Oakland trenchless sewer repair jobs in 1 day,” says Gary.

Air Innovations Expands Psychrometric Facility

New testing chambers boost R&D capacity at environmental process control manufacturer's worldwide headquarters

Syracuse, NY (PRWEB) August 15, 2012

Air Innovations' psychrometric testing facility
subjects environmental control systems and components
to simulated load conditions to ensure optimal performance
Air Innovations (AI), which designs and builds specialty environmental control systems for end users and original equipment manufacturers as well as its own branded products, recently expanded the psychrometric facility at its worldwide headquarters in North Syracuse, NY. The two-chamber laboratory tests the safety, reliability and performance of Air Innovations' products under both indoor and outdoor conditions, mimicking the simulated load conditions under which AI products will actually operate—many to very tight temperature and humidity tolerances. “We have invested in these full-service HVAC/R test chambers to expedite product development and bring leading edge environmental control systems to market faster,” said company President and CEO Michael Wetzel, P.E.

The facility will be used for the products that AI designs and builds for aerospace, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and medical device companies around the world. AI also will test the components used in the company’s air- and water-cooled packaged, through-the-wall and split systems and competitors’ performance parameters. In addition, the lab will be available for contract testing, said Wetzel.

The 2880 cubic foot (77 cubic meter)-facility tests temperatures between 0°F and 120°F (-17°C and 48°C). Humidity is created by ionic bed electric steam generator rated at 45 pounds/hour (20.4 kg/hr), controlling to +/- 2.5% relative humidity. Cooling capacity is up to 33,000 btuh (9.67 kw) per room, while heating capacity varies from 14,000 btuh (4.34 kw) in the indoor room and 130,000 btuh (38 kw) in the outdoor room. Each room operates 2100 CFM (3567 cubic meters/hr) of continuously re-circulating air. Airflow measurements (up to 2000 CFM) and unit-under-test leaving air properties for dry bulb/wet bulb are collected via a code tester or standard airflow hood. Automated data acquisition and control reduces data collection time.

The facility can test 60 Hz products between 115 volts and 277 volts (1 phase) and 208 volts to 460 volts, 3 phase. Products at 50 Hz, 230 volts (3 phase) also can be tested. The facility meets all major national and international standards for safety and performance such as: Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers; American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers; Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute; CE Mark; and, Underwriters’ Laboratories. In addition to its expanded psychrometric facility, Air Innovations operates a production chamber for final test of products prior to shipping.

Air Innovations, established in 1986, is a leader in specialty air conditioning, refrigeration and environmental control solutions for end users and original equipment manufacturers around the world. AI’s capabilities range from concept development to prototyping to mass production. The company’s systems are standard solutions or custom designs that feature close tolerance control of temperature (to +/-0.01°C), humidity control (to +/-0.5% stability), filtration and pressurization, and can be configured into a variety of packaged spaces.

Examples of AI’s customized applications include solutions for: handling sensitive military equipment on rocket launch pads; controlling humidity for a drug company’s tablet coating machines; managing thermal and moisture levels in a blood analyzer; maintaining cleanrooms environments in specialty contact lens manufacturing; and, controlling extremely precise temperature and humidity levels for nanomachining requirements. The company also manufactures its own brands of environmental control products that are used by: fine wine collectors (Wine Guardian®); supermarket florists (Floratech®); hospitals (IsolationAir®); and, homeowners for room air purification (HEPAiRx®).

All AI products are made at its 40,000 square-foot headquarters in North Syracuse, NY, which is located near an international airport and interstate highways. The company has been the recipient of several awards, including Engineer of the Year (HPAC Engineering magazine 2011) and Business of the Year (CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity, finalist, 2012), and is one of the fastest growing, privately held manufacturers in America (Inc. magazine 2010, 2011).

Small Bathroom Solutions: New Line of European Style Bathroom Vanities from Iotti is Introduced by HomeThangs.com

HomeThangs has introduced a new product line – Italian bathroom vanities by Iotti, as well as a tip sheet on European design for small bathrooms.

(PRWEB) August 11, 2012

HomeThangs.com – the Home Improvement Super Store has made their goal to deliver the right product to the consumer, with that in mind, shopping and home design tips, as well as special product selections are being introduced.

Simple Bathroom Vanity by Iotti.
European homes are smaller than an average American one - their cities are, typically, more densely populated, with compact buildings and not a whole lot of sprawl. And that's made European designers very good at making the most of small spaces. Italian designer Iotti is famous for their extremely small footprint bathroom vanities, such as Enjoy Vanity for example, which have smart storage and a whole lot of modern style.

HomeThangs has introduced a new product line – Italian bathroom vanities by Iotti, as well as a tip sheet on European design for small bathrooms.

1.    Not Merely Small
One of the smartest things about compact European bathroom vanities - and something rarely seen from American manufacturers - is that the vanities aren't merely small, as narrow. They're also very shallow, so the front of the vanity doesn't protrude as far into the bathroom. This is smart design in a myriad of ways, not the least of which for the simple fact that it gives more room to move around. In a very small bathroom, that will make the space seem larger, feel more comfortable and easier to navigate. And unlike a standard 36"x36"x36" vanity, it won't feel like a big gangly lump in a small space. For example, Lola Vanity by Iotti might not offer a whole lot of counter space, the slim, trim, 10 inch depth means it would not visually crowd even the smallest space.

2.    Smarter Storage
Having less space breeds innovation, especially when it comes to storage solutions. While an average small bathroom vanity typically has one cavernously large, hard to oganize cabinet, European bathroom vanities, like ones by Iotti, tend to use even less space more judiciously. The Linear Vanity for example, has a smaller, two-door cabinet and two easily accessible drawers, all of which are raised to waist level. That makes it easier to keep the stuff organized. Plus, because the vanity is so shallow, it's almost impossible to misplace the items in the back of the cabinet, so everything is just easier to find.

3.    Minimal But Multi Purposed
Due to the fact that European style bathroom vanities are so compact, some of them can even be used for multiple purposes. Iotti’s Fly Vanity for example - it's a little more than a shelf with a sink and a drawer, it can be installed high enough off the ground to use comfortably either while standing or while sitting in front of it, which means it can easily be used as a dressing table. This style is good for having a lot of make up or hair care products readily available, as the wide drawer is ideal for keeping small items spread out and easy to find. And a stool can be stored underneath the vanity when not in use.

4.    Superior Supplements
Many of Iotti's offerings are part of larger sets, often including multiple types of storage cabinets and medicine cabinets as well as sinks, faucets, and mirrors. The benefits of very shallow bathroom vanities go for their matching storage cabinets as well. The Luna Vanity Set offers three cabinet options in addition to the beautifully designed vanity. The first is a pretty typical cabinet, the others slim, wall mounted pieces (one of them a mirrored medicine cabinet), but what all three have in common is that they protrude less than ten inches away from the wall. The smaller of the two full sized cabinets is only seven inches deep.

5.    Liberated Layout
Instead of opting for one big storage cabinet, hamper, towel rack, one can have a wall full of storage. It's a much simpler, much sleeker solution to small bathroom problems than most American designs offer. For example: aptly named Simple Vanity and its twin storage cabinets have a lovely symmetry, and it has its own built in towel rack, so wall space does not have to be wasted putting one in. Plus, the cabinets are small enough to be installed over a hamper, toilet, or a trashcan without overwhelming the space.

HomeThangs.com is not only a home improvement superstore, it also provides expert design tips and a comprehensive shopping guide, taking the ideas from professional interior designers, and offering tips to the consumers on how to pick the products to best suit their needs.

Cast-Iron Piping: Old and New Still Very Popular

Mr. Rooter's Tip Of The Day: Using a pipe sleeve repair.

Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) June 05, 2012

“Because of its low cost and durability,” says Bob Beall, president of Mr. Rooter Plumbing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, “cast iron has long been the most popular material for drain, waste and vent pipe.” According to Beall, until recently it was also the most difficult to install because of its weight and the difficulty of joining it.

The conventional type, “still in wide use,” according to Mr. Rooter, “is connected at bell-shaped hub joints which must be sealed with molten lead and rope-like material called oakum.” A newer type, called hub-less pipe, is joined with sleeves and clamps. It can be spliced into an existing system of hub-type pipe to replace a damaged section or to add a new one.

Mr. Rooter says, “Leaks at hub joints can often be stopped by using a pipe sleeve repair.”
Two grades of cast-iron pipe are available, service weight and the thicker-walled heavy weight. Use service weight if your plumbing code permits, adds Beall, “it is easier to work with.”

“Both weights can be cut either with a saw and chisel or with a special cutting tool. Proper support is more important with cast-iron pipe than any other type, according to Mr. Rooter. “Because of its weight and because the hub-less joints are slightly flexible. Use pipe strap or in some cases, a special clamp is necessary.

Replacing A Kitchen Faucet: Mr. Rooter's Daily Tip

Mr. Rooter's Tip Of The Day: LIVE Chat 24/7 offers free plumbing answers to consumer's questions daily. Mr. Rooter Plumbing Pittsburgh is the most referred plumber in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region.

Cranberry Township, PA (PRWEB) May 25, 2012
“The toughest part of replacing a kitchen faucet is removing the old one,” says Bob Beall, president of Mr. Rooter Plumbing in Pittsburgh, Cranberry, Sharon, Beaver, Washington and Westmoreland, Pennsylvania and Youngstown, Ohio. According to Pittsburgh’s most reffered plumber, “unexpected problems always pop up—corroded pipes, difficult-to-reach nuts and poor access to fittings.” Otherwise, Beall says, “installing a new kitchen faucet isn’t tough at all. Actually, the directions that come with the new faucet are probably all that will be needed to do that part of the job. Barring unforeseen problems, it’s possible to be washing up under the faucet in an hour or so.”
Mr. Rooter’s Tip Of The Day
  • Tip # 1 – Make sure to have everything needed prior to beginning the project. Even having a helper to assist in case is a good idea.
  • Tip # 2 – Prior to disconnecting the drains and pipes, it might be a good idea to take an instant snapshot or make a sketch to know how to hook everything back up.
  • Tip # 3 – Make sure to be comfortable at the edge of the cabinet before getting started. The added insult of misery for the next two hours if something is pinching or hindering the job isn’t necessary.
  • Tip # 4 – Replacing the faucet while the local hardware store is open is a good idea in case any parts are needed.
  • Tip # 5 – Make sure to have a bucket or pail nearby to catch any water from the pipes once everything is unhooked.
  • Tip # 6 – Don’t completely disconnect the water supply lines except when the job entails replacing the lines as well. Disconnect them from the faucet only.
  • Tip # 7 – Having a solution of 50 % vinegar and 50% water handy for cleaning off any buildup from the old sink is a good idea. Be sure to have a scrub pad handy as well.
  • Tip # 8 – After your new faucet has been installed, it’s a good idea to flush out any debris that may have accumulated in the lines.
  • Tip # 9 – If you’re replacing a sink for the very first time, you might have a lot less difficulty if you follow the manufacturer’s instructions step-by-step instead of trying to guess. It will save on time and frustration.
  • Tip# 10 – Don’t forget to turn off either the water supply to the sink or the main water supply. Otherwise you’ll end up becoming soaked.
“Whatever the reason, when replacing a kitchen faucet and have chosen to complete the project alone, there is no reason to feel overwhelmed, as with patience and care, the project can go very smoothly. By following the tips above, replacing a kitchen faucet is a breeze, says Bob Beall, Mr. Rooter!

Restoration Local Offers Tips on Effective Sewer Cleanup

Sewer clean up and water removal provider offers tips for handling sewage spills in residential and commercial applications.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) April 23, 2012

restoration localRestoration Local, one of the leading providers of water removal and sewer clean up services in the country, is offering tips to property owners for handling sewage spills and taking proper sewer cleanup measures. Sewer water damage is the worst type of water damage that can occur, namely due to the presence of contamination such as parasites, bacteria, fungi, human waste, and other toxic substances in the sewage.

Utmost care is to be taken when dealing with any sort of sewage cleanup, since the danger to health and personal safety is so great. Children and pets should be kept out of the area until the sewer cleanup operation has been completely finished. Those working in these conditions should wear proper protection, such as rubber gloves and waterproof boots, long sleeves and pants. Skin contact with sewage should be avoided. Eye protection and breathing apparatus are also recommended.

All loose items such as furniture and rugs should be removed from the area, and items submerged in sewage should be considered beyond repair and discarded. Saturated carpeting should be wrapped in plastic and taken to a sanitary landfill. Some people insist on cleaning their carpet; this should only be done by a licensed professional, someone who can make an accurate determination of whether or not the carpet may be salvaged.

All hard surfaces such as flooring and metal furniture will need to be cleaned (probably more than once) with hot water and a mild detergent, and then rinsed with a bleach solution. The surface should be allowed to air dry.

Any upholstered items should, in most cases, be discarded. It is far easier and less expensive to simply replace them. Plaster and drywall that have been saturated by sewage should be cleaned, if possible, but in many cases may need to be cut away and replaced.

Sinks, dishwashers, and plumbing fixtures that have been exposed to sewage should be cleaned with the hot water/detergent mix, and then rinsed with bleach. Mold growth can be avoided by opening windows and doors to increase circulation, and getting all surfaces dried out as soon as possible.
Any unsealed food should definitely be thrown out. Some sealed or canned goods may be saved; the complete discarding of all food items is suggested in order to avoid the possibility of illness or other problems as the result of contaminated food.

Based in Cleveland OH, Restoration Local is one of the leading providers of water removal and sewer cleanup in the US, with service in 30 states. They are available 24/7 and all work is guaranteed.

Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating Celebrates Earth Day with the Launch of Because Water Matters Website

New website will educate Canadians about the crucial role plumbing plays in water conservation and our day-to-day lives

TORONTO, April 19, 2012 /CNW/ - This Sunday marks the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day: a day when we celebrate our planet by focusing on the environmental awareness and conservation that will shape a more sustainable future.

However, it's been over four decades since the first Earth Day and, surprisingly, many Canadian are still misinformed about the huge impact simple plumbing changes can have with respect to water conservation. As an example, a recent survey1 by the Canadian Institute of Plumbing & Heating (CIPH), a not-for-profit trade association representing Canada's manufacturers and wholesaler distributers of plumbing and hydronic heating products, revealed:
  • Half of Canadians would select a showerhead with high-pressure over one with high-efficiency;
  • Nearly 4 in 10 Canadians still leave the water running while brushing their teeth;
  • Most Canadians underestimate the annual water savings gained switching to a high-efficiency toilet by more than 17,000 L per annum2.
That's why CIPH is launching Because Water Matters, a website created to: educate Canadians about the crucial role plumbing plays in water conservation; and highlight trends and technology in the plumbing industry.

Top San Bernardino Kitchen Remodeling Contractor Dave's Remodeling Announces Completion of Residential Project

Dave’s Remodeling, serving Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties, Transforms Kitchen into Modern, Open, and Stylish Space.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 20, 2012
Many of today’s new custom homes incorporate open floor planning, creating a seamless, luxurious space where guests and hosts, as well as parents and children can interact without limitations. However, even older homes can be renovated to create an airy and open space by removing walls and widening passages.

Like many homeowners, Loretta and John Iacono, loved the idea of having an open kitchen for entertaining and family gatherings, but cringed every time they looked at their old fashioned, dated kitchen. When the couple couldn’t stand it anymore, they called Dave’s Remodeling.
“My kitchen was very old and all the cabinets were falling apart,” Loretta says, adding that their 2800 square foot, four bedroom, three bath San Bernardino home was built in the 1940s. “The entrance into the kitchen was very small. We wanted to extend the dining area into the kitchen to create a more spacious feeling.”

By removing a wall, Dave’s Remodeling reconfigured the room so the kitchen was sandwiched between a dining room on one side and a breakfast area on the other. The remodel transformed the kitchen into an airy and open space and allowed traffic to flow easily between the three rooms. However, the work wasn’t without challenges.

Insulation: How to keep Pipes from Freezing

With winter slowly approaching it may be a good time to check your plumbing to prevent your plumbing pipes from freezing when the temperature starts to go down. When water freezes it will expand inside the pipes. When it expands enough it can cause the frozen pipes to burst resulting in serious damage to your home and plumbing. So it better to prevent frozen pipes with some DIY Plumbing then to have to call a plumber to fix them after they break.

The water inside the pipe freezes when the heat of the water is transferred from the water to the surrounding (subfreezing) air. The best ways to keep pipes from freezing is to minimize or stop this transfer of heat by installing sufficient insulation and small holes and cracks should be sealed off to keep the cold air from entering the building and reaching the pipes. The more insulation you use, the better protected your pipes will be.
